Market Research

Research Problem(s) Studied

The problem that I wanted to solve was to figure out if students on or off campus even knew about campus health. Secondly, I want to figure out if these students would consider seeking medical treatment from there. And lastly, I wanted to figure out if students were not using campus health, then where were they going to seek treatment. I decided to use a survey because I feel like the people, I send the survey too will be more honest if they answer over the phone and not in person. I also think that this will allow them more time to think about what they are answering and give a more in-depth answer to my questions.

I decided to make a survey, and I sent the survey to 4 students I knew from campus.

Market research assists students in making informed decisions in the final marketing plan

Part Two

For my survey, I sent it to 4 students that I know from campus. These students are in the age range of 21-24 and either live on campus or walking distance from it. I had some mixed reviews about Campus health. 2 of the students said they had not heard of campus healthwhile the other 2 said they had heard of it. I asked them if they had used campus health and 75% said they had not used it. All the students had a general idea of the services that were offered by campus health and all of them said they would use campus health forminor injuries and minor viruses such as a cold. They all agree that campus health is accessible on campus, and they all agree it is important to have it campus health close by. What I learned from this research is that campus health is not known by everyone on campus.

think this is a problem because it is an easy and secure place to seek treatment for a multitude of needs. The students in the survey say they are likely to use campus health depending on wait times and price. This could be a problem as places like CVS offer walk in appointments if they student is trying to be fast. This will influence my marketing plan by trying to spread the word about campus health and their services. By continuing to spread the word about campus health we will reach more and more students. Either by hanging flyers, offering free services, or putting it in the newspaper on campus would allow more students to get involved with campus health. Another way it could impact is looking at our prices. By offering lower or competitive prices or accepting more insurances compared to CVS and other med check it could allow more students to visit free of charge or for just a few dollars.

As a medical health facility located on a college campus, I do not believe we have a perfect patient. We have an obligation to treat every student that walks through our door. With that being said, an ideal customer would be a person who is enrolled in IU Indy as a student and is enrolled as a faculty member

Our target audience for Campus Health would be students who attend IU Indy. These students would be aged 18-24 years old. Gender does not matter as we do not wish to discriminate our patients. Income, occupation, and family size also do not matter as these do not affect the what the patient needs to receive medical care. Education does matter however as our target audience needs to be enrolled as a student of IU Indy. Another factor that does matter is geographical location, this is because IU Indy students are typically located within the greater Indianapolis area, but as long as they are a student of our school they are allowed to receive our service.

At campus health, the psychographics that could affect patients out be stresses from class or personal lives. Students' lives can also be fast paced between classes. Nowadays we see a big emphasis on mental health from people in this age range so it is important to them that they are able to find some sort of medical service that supports this.
